A magical trick for Fuji

Fuji apples

Kasian deh liat Fuji pada nganggur gitu…
Tapi berhubung kita gak hobi makan apel begitu aja (kecuali Ken-chan, yang practically and literally makan apa aja), jadi harus ‘disulap’ supaya cepet abis.

Tadinya mau bikin cake berbahan apel yang chocolaty. Tapi a dear friend Squish at Sweden nyebut-nyebut tentang paduan apel dengan rempah-rempah… and that sounded soooo tempting!

Sejak masih di-oven, seluruh rumah udah wangi kayu manis. Dan hasilnya… nyuuuuummm!!!!!

Served with a cup of warm tea,… very comforting for chilly winter nights!
Meshi agari..!!!

Apple Spicy Chocolate Cake

modified by the shufu herself

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon ground allspice (saya gak pake ini)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 tablespoon warm water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 apples – peeled, cored and chopped
  • 1/4 cup confectioners’ sugar for dusting

additional*:

– 1,5 tablespoon cocoa powder
– 2 teaspoons cinnamon powder, sifted together with confectioner’s sugar for dusting

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Butter a 10 inch tube pan.
  2. Cover raisins with warm water, let soak for 10 minutes and then drain.
  3. Whisk together flour, spices, and salt. Set aside.
  4. Cream together butter or margarine and sugar. Mix in eggs and vanilla.
  5. Stir together soda and 1 tablespoon warm water, and mix into the sugar mixture. (baking soda-nya saya ayak bareng sama campuran tepung, jadi gak pake cara dilarutin seperti ini)
  6. Stir in flour mixture, apples, and strained raisins until well blended. Pour batter into prepared pan.
  7. Bake for approximately 1 hour, or until a tester comes out clean. Cool in pan. Once cool, shake pan to loosen cake. Turn onto plate, and dust with confectioners’ sugar.
