Savoury Cookies

If I had to choose between baking cakes and baking cookies, I would rather take the first one. I like cookies, but am too lazy to bake them, let alone shaping them one by one. But if I really had to bake them, I would definitely go for the savoury ones. Just like these ones….

I really love the taste. For me these cookies are so irresistible that I can’t help nibbling more and more. I got the recipe from my mom’s old notes, and my mom got it from old cooking magazine from the late 70s, Mahkota Selera, which is even no longer being published. My mom always bakes these every Idul Fitri and once in a while for daily snack. So this is really one of the tastes of my childhood.

Savoury Chicken Consomme Cookies

300 gr butter (at room temperature)
400 gr all-purpose flour
1 tbs chicken consomme powder
1 egg yolk
1 egg yolk for brushing


– Preheat oven to 200 C degree.
– Brush the oven tray with butter and sprinke lightly with flour.
– Mix butter, flour, consomme powder and egg yolk in a big mixing bowl. Beat with wooden spoon until incorporate. Knead the dough until it forms smooth dough and not sticky.
– Shape the dough into small balls, and place on the tray. Flatten slightly with fingers.
– Brush the surface with egg yolk using pastry brush.
– Bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown.


Cookies Kaldu Ayam

300 gr mentega (suhu ruang)
400 gr terigu
1 sdm kaldu ayam bubuk
1 kuning telur
1 kuning telur untuk olesan

Cara bikinnya

– Panaskan oven suhu 200 derajat Celcius.
– Olesi loyang kue kering dengan mentega dan taburi tepung.
– Semua bahan diaduk rata pake sendok kayu.Uleni dengan tangan sampai kalis.
– Bentuk bulat-bulat kecil, letakkan di atas loyang. Tekan dengan jari sampai agak pipih.
– Olesi permukaan kue dengan kuning telur.
– Bakar selama 15 menit atau sampai matang kuning kecoklatan.
